A smaller 39.2 kWh / 136 hp variant is available in some markets but was not offered in Canada in this model year. DC fast charging is limited to 77 kW on the 64 kWh model, which extends charge stops compared to competitors with higher DC acceptance rates. The Kona Electric shares its body with the combustion Kona but rides on a revised suspension tuned for the heavier battery weight. The lower centre of gravity improves handling noticeably. Canadian buyers have access to government EV incentives where applicable; in Ontario, the federal iZEV program applies up to $5,000 on the Kona Electric.
